Ahmad “Mo” Khalil, a College of Engineering assistant professor wins NIH New Innovator Award

The improper and excessive use of antibiotics has led to the rise of superbugs. Current technology does not give enough insight through quick testing to start targeted antibiotic. In absence of this doctors prescribe a broad range of antibiotics which in turn contributes to rise of superbugs.

This award will help  Ahmad “Mo” Khalil, a College of Engineering assistant professor of biomedical engineering to develop the technology which will focus on developing new and rapid techniques for diagnosing antibiotic resistance to more effectively manage and treat gonococcal infections.

Great work and congratulations.
