Indian Government Draws Thin Red Line to Curb Antibiotic Misuse

"India is committed to combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR). However, a collective action is required by all stakeholders within a country and by all countries within a region, " health minister J P Nadda said. Recently, the Indian government has been trying to work on the issue of antibiotic misuse, by adding a red line across packages of different types of medicine, which means that the medicine is an antibiotic and shouldn't be used unless prescribed by a doctor. India also has the highest number of TB patients, and so a standard protocol treatment has been created, that would hence restrict the purchase and selling of antibiotics. To learn more about this new initiative, take a look at Times of India's Article.
