Cancer and Its Correlation to Antibiotics?

As the school year comes to an end, I finally had the time to sit down and write a blog post. Recently, I came across an article about how Antibiotic Resistance effects our progress in cancer treatment. According to the Norweigan Cancer Society, antibiotic-resistant bacteria could set back cancer treatment for decades, as many treatments can't do without the use of antibiotics. Often times, cancer patients' immune system will become weaker, making them more prone to infections, which is why antibiotics are imperative in order to avoid complications. For example, acute leukemia cannot be treated without effective antibiotics. This means cancer treatment will become more difficult to obtain and more expensive for patients as well. Though we talk about antibiotic resistance in so many aspects, I never thought about other diseases it could affect. For more info, check out Kreftforningen's article.
